General Director of Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority meets WFP officials

March 16, 2024, Kabul.

General Director of Afghanistan Food and drug Authority (AFDA) met acting director of world food program (WFP) Mr. Harald Menhart and accompany officials in his office on Thursday, 14th march. In this meeting Mr. Harnard Menhart stated their activities in Afghanistan and other counties.       In addition, Mr. Omar thanked them for the activities and services of the organization in Afghanistan. Mr. Omar highlighted the activities and achievements of AFDA and added; among other duties, this authority is responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of medicines, health products and food. Also Mr. Omar asked the director of WFP that all food items should be purchased and distributed in accordance with the rules and regulations of AFDA.

Mr. Omar stated: “the main reason of malnutrition is lack of safe and mineral rich food and have to work seriously for it.”   

Meanwhile, Mr. Harald Menhart appreciated the authority’s efforts and promised to act according to authority’s regulations. At the end, they decided that the technical committees of both AFDA and WFP will work together for solving some issues.
